10th & 11th June 2017 Walking Challenge

The Challenges

The objectives of the event are:

  • To raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
  • To challenge yourself to achieve a distance that you are proud of whether a set challenge or your own bespoke challenge from the list below
  • To enjoy yourself in the company of your team members and other entrants.

Depending on your team’s fitness  and preferences, there are four challenges that can be entered:

  • The Complete Challenge – £25 per person – for whole weekend. Looe to Rame Head and back on Saturday then Looe to Polruan and back on Sunday. Total approx. 55 miles over the weekend.

  • The One Day Challenge – £15 per person – for one day only (Saturday or Sunday). You choose which one! Approx. 30 miles on Saturday or 25 miles on Sunday.

  • The Personal Challenge  – £10 per person (1 day) or £15 per person (2 days)  –  set your own challenge with a distance of between 6 and the full 55 miles over one or two days.  Register for your team’s Personal Challenge and the organisers will contact you to discuss your own personal route. For safety reasons turnaround points and finish points need to be marshal stations.
  • The Family Challenge – £10 per family group – for Sunday morning Looe to Polperro walk. Ratio of at least one adult for every two children. You can either walk from Looe to Polperro and back (approx. 10 miles) or just walk from Looe to Polperro (approx. 5 miles) and get a boat, bus or taxi back.

  • The Armchair Challenge – If you can’t make the dates or don’t feel up to doing one of the walking challenges, but would like to support the cause, we would welcome any donation. Please Donate Here

You can enter a team by completing the Entry Form on this website, which will include team details and details of each team member (minimum of 2 people per team – no maximum).

In addition to having a great time on this beautiful coastline, we are raising money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance which is a life saver for those who live and visit Cornwall. There is no minimum level of sponsorship but we would be very grateful if team members could achieve £100 each (£2 a mile). In recognition of the fundraising challenge, The Cornish Challenge Trophy will be given to the team which raises the most money (average amount per team member).

A certificate will be given to each participant who completes the Challenge that they entered.

Key Dates and Times

Entry forms and fees must be received by Thursday 8th June 2017. Each team entered will receive an acknowledgement by email on entry.

Registration from 07:00 – 07.45am on each day of the Challenge (Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June) at The Millpool Centre, West Looe. The Challenge starts at 08:00 from The Millpool Car Park.

The Coast & Cove Challenge is organised by The Lions Club of Looe, which was set up in 1966 and was the first Lions Club in Cornwall. The Club is one of over 46,000 Lions Clubs in over 200 different countries throughout world, which serve their local communities and raise money for local, national and international charitable causes. In 2017 Lions all over the world are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first Lions Club – set up in Illinois, USA. The first Lions Club was actually incorporated in Illinois on 7th June 1917, so this inaugural Coast & Cove Challenge is a fitting way for the Lions Club of Looe to mark that occasion.
